SOME STUFFS: Carlos Mena performs DJ set in San Francisco tonight (5/2/08)

If you are in the San Francisco area tonight, head to the Duplex (1525 Mission St.) for an event that looks like it's going to be a blast and a trip. Bembe is said to be a celebration of the return to spiritual music through various incorporated sounds, from the turntables to real instrumentation. Tonight's show will feature Jephte Guillaume, Cecil, and artist/producer Carlos Mena, a faithful friend of The Run-Off Groove.

The show is 21 and over and will last from 9pm to 3am (eternal), tickets are $7 if you buy them now, or $10 at the door.

Mena and the rest of the BEMBE collective plan on taking the movement around the world, and beyond if they good. To get in contact with him or to find out how to bring it to your city or country, click to the official BEMBE MySpace page.

Her debut album is due out very soon, but this single is truly on that other level in terms of groove and being motivational, think Soul II Soul meets Jazzanova while hanging out in Brazil and... just check out the page and purchase the tracks:
